Kanye West x Spike Jonze – “We Were Once A Fairytale”.

A (really) weird little short film that Kanye and director (who is from Rockville, MD by the way. That’s where I grew up.) Spike Jonze created. Let me know how you like it, and if you understood what was going on.

The video isn’t showing up anymore :(

But I was able to watch it on another site, and I was with it until the lil rat-looking puppet came out. The video was really disturbing and I’m wondering if Kanye was trying to make some type of commentary on rumors, or if he is confirming rumors about his well-being.

Only guess I have for the rat-puppet thing was that he was symbolic of something that Kanye was/is dealing with internally. But I could be reading too much into it.

BTW..I busted out laughing at Farnsworth Bentley starting a fight in the club…lol

…the filming wasn’t that great. It seems to drag on forever just to kill the little monster inside of him. I got bored quick.

Rat equals ego..it’s actually a great short film in my opinion…

I like it a lot, I think it depicts the sadness and loneliness he feels and the rat thing was his demon, so in the end he killed/cut out his demons so to speak, kinda like letting to of the old habits.

Well, depending on the situational context…. it could still be about to the girl. He’s still not over her, and it’s bringing him down. So he wakes up from being passed out, realizes he’s got his damn pants down sexing some scandalously dressed pillows, and comes to terms with the fact that he’s hit rock bottom. So he needs to dig this monster up and get it out of him. The monster being himself and his inability to move on from this girl. It seems like when he looks the little creature in the eyes, he finally realizes how ugly it was. And that little rat is not from any fairytale. So he’s finally letting it die.
    Good job, Kanye.

the filming was great. i actually felt drunk watching it. the editing too was great. the director kept using rack focus which made it nauseating…genius
