this is for my BC brethrens.
so i’m browsing on my homie london’s blog, and i see her advertising for this site. it’s called BC swag, and apparently, they just give BC students hella swag, aka FREE STUFF. i went to chamillionaire’s album preview session with my homies nick and erin, and they gave us swag bags, but they were kinda weaksauce. BC swag looks more official, man. i’m talking food, movie tickets, PLANE tickets, promotional sh!t, crucial gear, and much more. i figured i’d do the right thing like spike lee and spread the good word. so check it out, enter the raffles, scheme and plot a little bit, and let me know if you get anything vicious. enjoy!

editor’s note: i wrote this about a year ago. i found it in the archives of my computer’s hard drive, so i figured i’d share it with you all. it’s actually getting a little cold here in boston, so i feel like this is a good time for the re-up. let’s get it. enjoy.
man oh man…it’s getting cold out there, people. i can’t really speak for other schools, but i feel like when it gets cold in boston, i tend to see more couples linking up, more relationships blossom. my guess? daylights savings + frigid weather = crucial cuddling time (CCT). well, it’s a little more complex than that. let me break it down.
sure, doubt me if you want. but haven’t you noticed? that guy who lives in the room next door is no longer midnight creeping to (insert homegirl of the day here)’s room. instead, he’s posted up with his main squeeze, watching a movie in the lounge or something. your buddy doesn’t tell you about the wild weekend he had, because the weekend wasn’t wild. he was probably watching 10 things i hate about you with his wifey. it’s basically a fact…everybody out there, around this time of the year, is looking to get bunned up. didn’t you notice shorty who you’ve been eyeing in the cafeteria everyday FINALLY coming up and saying what’s up at the halloween party in a few weeks? or ladies, how about the extra flirtatious dude working at the school store? maybe it’s just me, but i feel the desperation in the air. now, the thing about this whole dilemma is, nobody is excluded; youngsters, adults, nerds, jocks, divas, cool kid. it doesn’t even mattter. you just want somebody to care about, right? don’t be ashamed, it is what it is.
i know some people who read this entry are like, “easier said than done, man.” and you are exactly right. it’s all about reciprocity. you can pour your heart out to somebody, but it means nothing unless they show you love back. trust me on that. there are no guaranteed methods to winning the boy or girl of your dreams. there’s only hope. me personally? i’m a dreamer. i don’t care if the odds are favorable that i will get carried (carried = played. rocked. chopped and screwed, as t-pain would say in that new song. yeah, this is an update to the year-old entry, so what?), because that slim chance is good enough for me.
i know i’m rambling, so i’ll just get to the point: everybody gets bit by the like/love/lust bug, and there’s nothing you can really do about it. the bug’s been tryna get me, but i won’t speak on whether or not he’s actually chomped on me (all hetero) just yet. instead, i’ll let lupe fiasco speak for those out there who have that special person that they’ve had their eye on for a minute.
anyway, watch the video, you’ll like it. oh, and shout out to all the dreamers out there…i see you. preach, mr. fiasco. preach. feedback is appreciated on this post. enjoy.
study that diagram while you jam this track.

the song makes me nostalgic for high school days. college is overrated, and i can definitely wait to get back to school. i need to figure out where i’m posting up in each class though. it will vary, depending on the professor. i need to pick my classes, too.
i hate the dudes in the front row, but admire mid-center people. and in my summer school english class @ fordham, i swear there was a girl who sat against the wall, with her hand blocking her face because she was extremely shy. she even walked to the bathroom with it in front of her face. was that mean to say? probably. oh, and in my econ class, i posted up by exit. because i had no idea what was going on. that’s why you shouldn’t ever trust me with your money. more great diagrams over at PHD comics.
like spoken word? like rhymes and stuff? me too. meet ill-literacy. they’re coming to BC on november 10th with their band, the hi-life’s, and my man ricky s. (aka the people’s champ) gave me the head’s up. check them out, video below. pretty entertaining stuff!
want more!? check them out here. their site is pretty vicious, and i’m probably gonna swagger jack some of its features soon. might as well be honest.
i decided against blogging about the DC music scene because i don’t live there at the moment, and tons of people can do that job better than me. they’re all in the blogroll, under "the dmv." however, when i saw this interview wit my man judah, i had to throw it up.
judah is the one guy i’ve been hearing about for a minute, and he’s finally starting to get the recognition he deserves. he’s produced for a lot of up-and-coming talent, both from the area (like wale, for instance) and around the nation (like my homie theo). district fresh gets in touch with judah for this 10 minute interview. crucial.

“the level at which the momentum for change becomes unstoppable.”
homboy clearly couldn’t swerve it, and unfortunately got rocked in math class. he’ll wake up with that gum plastered all over his face. damn. the only way to pull off an all-nighter is to somehow evade that tipping point. i’ve just succeeded. please, don’t be like this guy.
wow. this cali MC, signed to d’wayne carter’s young money imprint, is opening up for the roots this friday @ boston college. and he is officially the man. DO NOT SKIP ANY PART OF THIS. but realize that around 4 minutes and 25 seconds deep, he stunts on everybody. watch.
i can’t even lie, this could be one of the most entertaining videos i’ve seen in a minute. after seeing this, i can say tyga is a-ok in my book. he just ate some money, while talking down on some OG’s. oh boy. he wins. see you friday, tyga man. “stop hatin’!”
don’t know who this guy is!? he had the summer anthem. enjoy it.

we see you out here tyga!

the roots in concert @ BC
friday, september 12 in conte forum. $20 per ticket.
my UGBC connect told me that tickets are officially on sale from monday - friday during business hours in robsham theatre (no max # of tickets, but they will ask for a BC ID when buying it just to make sure it is BC affiliated). no need for a BC ID at the doors though, so anyone from around here can come in for the show.
oh, and apparently young money’s tyga is opening up for these guys. i personally think these guys attract two different demographics, and a few other artists would have been better picks, but you tell me how you feel about that.
thank the people over at UGBC for this special fall concert. seating is general admission, with the doors opening at 7 pm for the 8 pm show.
i’m back on campus with the squadron. let’s get it.
to toast to this, asher roth will help me bring in the new school year with his anthem, “i love college”. he’s that dude in the picture above, and he can rap. it dropped a while ago, but school starts tomorrow. so it’s fitting.

DL: asher roth - i love college
get his mixtape, the greenhouse effect, here.
my TA is back. stephanie, a contestant in “i want to work for diddy,” went to BC. and we show her love on the blog. watch her dance with him her.
LOL! the show is on from 9 to 10, every monday on VH1.

the huffington post gave me some great news today.
Luke Russert, son of late Washington Bureau Chief and moderator of “Meet the Press” Tim Russert, will be joining the network to serve as a correspondent-at-large for the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, focusing on youth issues.
let’s get it. my man luke is in fact a DC to BC product, just like me. went to high school down the street from me, in fact!! he was the TA in my radio class, and he ran $#!t. he even did a presentation on the programming and infostructure of WPGC 95.5! talk about love for the DMV.
he’s a cool guy, and i’m proud of him. if you didn’t know, he hosts 60/20, a weekly XM sports radio show with politician james carville. for those of you who want to see him in action, i pulled a clip of him at his dad’s memorial service. his composure is incredible.
i see you out there, luke.

i’m making a power move back to the bean for a brief stint with boston george and a few classes. kinda like this guy:
you gotta play this song before you read all of this stuff. i like giving people theme music so you can see how i picture things. please.

shout out to everybody who made that last two months back home crucial. and shout out to tahir who says he checks the blog regularly, ha. and shout out to everybody who threw a party or a get together, because they were all vicious. shout out to nas vegas for the constant scoops and whip appeal. shout out to lenny for introducing me to beautiful howard women. shout out to mr. goode for just being the ultimate power mover and never loafing. shout out to cori for the gold’s gym connect, even though i’m fairly sure she’ll never read this. shout out to mr. freddie brown for running the city. and everybody else who was around and i kicked it with. yeah, i just gave some shout outs like the liner notes of an album.
whoever’s in boston, hit me up. i’ll be posted up like a mailbox in the dorms. jobless, whipless, girl-less. that means no real power moves, no dates, no new purchases or pick ups, and no late night excursions. just some A’s on the summer transcript. basically, in some woeful circumstances. and i’ll still be updating the joint on the regular.
oh, and someone let me know what the move is 4th of july.
